What We Do
At The Clothing Warehouse Ltd, we offer a wide array of new and pre-loved clothing from our warehouse on Hambridge Road in Newbury. Our family-run business currently employs 8 full-time staff members, plus part-time weekend staff. Based in old farm buildings, our premises are far from posh, but they have character and ample space for both stock and customer parking. Best of all, we are open 7 days a week and most bank holidays. Get in touch today to learn more.
Supporting Local Charities
Across more than 30 years in business, The Clothing Warehouse Ltd has donated more than £350,000 to local charities, including Newbury District Cancer Care, the Bracknell Mayor's Charity, and Thames Hospice. We have also raised more than £10,000 to support the upkeep of a local church and recently started supporting other local charities either directly. This is possible through a relatively small number of clothing banks with the sites kindly agreed to by local councils.
How We Operate
Having obtained permission to place a clothes bank in a particular location, we buy a bank and have it painted and sign-written according to the charity or organisation that will benefit. We regularly empty the bank to ensure that it does not overflow and to check for any issues such as jammed hoppers or damage.
The weight of clothing is recorded on each visit and at the end of the month, the total weight is calculated together with the value of the collections. A copy of the weight collected is then sent to the various charities and organisations, with payment following shortly afterwards.
How We Sort
When we receive the clothes at our depot, they are sorted into various categories. Clothes suitable for sale in the UK are sold from our shop, and other categories are sold to third parties that export them to other countries. This way, all of the clothes that are in wearable condition find a second home and benefit many people, who may not be as fortunate as others.
Donations
We accept all donations direct to our premises during opening hours, and at our clothing banks, which are always open.
